backstage tour

last week, keph and i were in NYC!!  it was amazing!  my first time in the big apple in the fall, and keph's first time ever.  we walked, we ate, we shopped, we walked more.  more about everything else later... 

one of my best friends from when i lived in portland [bri] now lives in nyc with her cute hubbie [nic]... and she works for disney theatrical productions... dream job.  i know...   

anyway, not only did she hook us up with her sweet discount to go see lion king on broadway, but last monday... we met her at her office during her lunch break and we got to play in the props room!! 

pretty much, this room is where they store all the props, costumes, stage replicas, etc. for all the disney broadway shows.  and we got to try it all on!!!

it was cool to see some of the props from lion king - since we had just seen it a few nights before.

a stage replica for mary poppins in london (last year, my mom, keph, debbie and i saw mary poppins when it was on tour in slc, and it was amazing!) 

 wearing the exact same clothes as the actress that played mary poppins in london!!

there wasn't much from beauty and the beast, but this is the costume for the lady who plays the dresser (minus the head and her awesome hat/headpiece) and the front actually opens up!!

i've never seen little mermaid on broadway, but since it's my favorite disney movie, i've always wanted to see the play.  and after seeing the amazing props, now i REALLY want to see it!

we saw a picture of the scene with this costume, and these guys were hanging in the air - i could totally do that!

they also had some props there from aida and tarzan, as well as posters and such from the newsies. 

also, bri's office is on the upper floors of the theater where mary poppins is currently playing in times square! like i said... dream job.

but we also got a tour of her awesome office space, and of the theater and all the box seats.

thank you bri!!!!!  we owe you!

also, i get to go to a session of conference at the conference center with my adorable boyfriend next weekend! yay!  he is great and wonderful and amazing!  we spend last weekend at his parents cabin in bear lake. hiked to the windcaves in logan canyon. the colors were AMAZING!  seriously, it was a great weekend!

wednesday, we went to primary children's hospital and he got his port out.

the parentals have been in england for the past month.  walking....

my bestie joylyn is about to have a baby girl!!  

so excited for her, j-dizzle and p-diddy. (aka, her hubbie and son).  baby girl is still unnamed, so please send any name ideas my way and i shall pass them along.

dave and i took parasailing lessons a few weeks ago.  at point of the mountain. 

it was awesome!!  harder than i thought, but still awesome.

um, there's about a ZILLION other things that i can write about, but i don't even know where to start, so i will just end now.

my life, as of late.

Back at the end of January, I went to San Francisco! I had to go for work, and then spent the weekend with my friend Matt – who I know from my Portland days, but now lives in SF. Good times.

Went to the Lady Antebellum concert with JoyLyn – such a great show!

Went to the aquarium with my adorable nephews. I love them, and I love penguins, so it was a perfect afternoon! We’re wearing shark masks, if you can’t tell what they are….

I spent a weekend skiing in Jackson Hole with my roommate and 14 other friends. I’ve always wanted to ski at Jackson – it was amazing. Not to mention, we had perfect weather, and I got to ski the morning with my Aunt and Uncle who are up there working for the winter.

Last week at work, we rented a suite at the Jazz v. Timberwolves game. Everyone brought their spouse, and it was great spending time outside of work with co-workers and their spouses. Go Jazz!!

I’ve had a few AMAZING ski days with these two boys. They make it so I can’t walk the next day… let it snow :)

Wednesday night…. Cosmic bowling. I’ve always been a horrible bowler, but this was just an embarrassment!

a crafty weekend!

i had quite a crafty weekend!

i got this table from work - it was pretty ugly, but for $10, i couldn't pass it up!

here's the final product - i don't LOVE it, but it's ok. maybe in a few months, i'll just sand it down and start over again... who knows!

....also, i made this halloween banner. there's 2 of each, and i still need to get something to attach them to, but not too bad for my first banner! i think frankstein and the candy corn are my favorites.

i also did a little scrapbooking, got some crafts ready to finish up this week, and helped my friend make some cute birthday buckets.

too bad that i have a full-time job and can't craft this much every weekend!

best day at work. ever.

Last week, the accounting department went to Park City at the Olympic Park for a "Team Building" day - it was great! We started with yummy box lunches from Kneaders - sitting outside and enjoying the fresh air while we ate was SO much better than eating at my cubicle! After eating, we did the 2 ziplines, then the Alpine Slide....and then the Bobsled. That's right - the same track from the Olympics. It was A.W.E.S.O.M.E. SO awesome! Our sled was going 70.3 miles an hour - I can't even explain how great it was!! Each sled had a professional driver, and then 3 of us employees. Here's the whole group afterwards:

Tuesday, I got in my first car accident....

It was a sad day, but no one got hurt – which is always a good thing!! I was stopped at a stop light, right behind a pink Mary Kay Escalade (I wish I was kidding, but I’m not!), and the pinkness of her car inspired me to check out my nails and wonder if Mary Kay had any cuticle crème that could fix my poor little cuticles. Anyway…. I saw the cars in the left turn lane start moving, and I could have sworn that I saw Pink Escalade move, and so I let my foot off the brake, and CRASH!!! I seriously rolled into the back of her car, and that’s what happened! I guess she had started moving too because she thought our light was green, and then realized it was red and put her brakes back on.

The irony of the whole situation… I was on my way to the car shop to get my car checked out, and then bam… crash….

Oh, and the name of the officer that wrote up the ticket and accident… Officer Prettyman. Not joking at all. That part seriously made my day!!! The poor guy though – he’s probably been made fun of his entire life!

once the accounting department moves into our new space, it will be my fifth move since I started working here 1 1/2 years ago!! we're on the 5th floor, and I'm really hoping for a window view facing the mountains. keep your fingers crossed for me!
