i love this boy

I have the best brother in the whole wide world!!

(july 1987)

(october 1991)

(september 2009)

In December 2005, Dave was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL). That winter/spring, he went through some intensive chemotherapy. He went back to school at USU in the Fall of 2006 while on maintenance, and was "cancer free" in April of 2009.

During a checkup a few weeks ago, they found that the cancer has relapsed.

So far, he seems to be doing pretty good. He has all his treatments done at Primary Children's Medical Hospital in SLC, and will be staying in Alpine with my parents.

This kid is amazing! Not only is he a genius, he is hilarious! I have never heard him complain about the chemo treatments. He has the best attitude about life, and is always so optimistic.

In case you care to follow, or just are interested, here's a link to a blog that he has started. The 'Journal' link is where he's going to try to post updates.

I brought him back a ukulele from Hawaii, which I'm hoping will keep him entertained, and he can also be used to serenade all his visitors when he feels up for it!

Love you Davie!

  2. I think the good attitude and the optimism must run in the family. I love the wolf on your shirt in the second picture. Awesome. :) Sending positive energy your way.

  3. I'm glad that Dave has already chosen to endure this well, as noted in his blog that this is setting up to be a "dream summer"! He's lucky to have you as his older sister too, Emily. A ukulele from Hawaii? Score!

  7. Oh my gosh those pictures are priceless!! I am excited to visit Dave's blog! If he ever needs someone to keep him entertained in the hospital I think we have just the group for him. As can be confirmed by Nurse Brad we have some pretty good stories!!!
