Do-it-yourself Christmas decor

that's right.... ornaments made from a tampon!!
with or without glittery details too!

my tree is pretty sparse for decorations, but i don't think i'm willing to go this far!

30 before I'm 30 bucket list

So, I've decided to make a bucket list of 30 things that I want to do before I'm 30 - now that I'm on the downward slope....

Anyway, here's my list so far, but I need help with more ideas to add to it! I don't need to have all 30 right now - I figure I can add the last few over the next couple years. But any ideas that you have would be great!!

1. Visit 30 countries (I have 8 left)

2. Alaska

3. North Dakota

4. Ride in a hot air balloon

5. Buy a new car

6. Volunteer with Boys and Girls Club

7. Learn to tap dance

8. Go hang gliding

9. Finish a triathlon

10. Ride a snowmobile

11. Go to Jackson Hole

12. Be a ski instructor

13. Finish Alphabet Dates

14. Take a photography class

15. Get LASIK

So - I'm half-way done with my list. Any more ideas to add??!!

You can call me four-eyes

That's right... it's glasses only for me for the next 1 1/2 weeks.... and then I'm getting LASIK! It's weird to think that yesterday was my last day of ever wearing contacts! I'm scared to death to get Lasik (especially since everyone keeps telling me how much it really does hurt), but I will be SO great to just be able to wake up and see!

Wish me luck!

my mom = superwoman!

My mom competed in the Triathlon at the Senior Games this weekend in St. George, and she did awesome!!

Her time was 1 hour 28 minutes, and she won the Silver Medal for her age group! She was the first one out of the pool, and first one onto her bike in her heat!

[please notice how toned my mom's legs are!! awesome!]

In order to compete in the Senior Games, you had to be at least 50 years old, and during the triathlon, each competitor had their age written on their calf. It was quite inspiring to me – being the overly lazy person that I am – to see all these old people still doing triathlons! At the awards ceremony, they announced the winners from each age group, and their times. There was an 84-year-old man who did finished in 1hr 34 minutes!! Very impressive!

After the triathlon, we visited with my grandma, and her sister (my great-aunt) who is going to be 102 in February! The two of them together are just hilarious – my mom and I were laughing quite a bit. They are both pretty much blind, and can’t hear great, so they just sit around and yell at each other! I was getting a bit sleepy, so I figured that since neither one can see all that well, they wouldn’t notice if I just sat there with my eyes closed. But they did notice, which makes me think that they are lying about how much they can and can’t see!!

It was a great weekend full of old folks, and made me not feel so bad about my upcoming birthday this year!

i {heart} SF

I spent this weekend in San Francisco with a few of my girlfriends, and it was a blast! We did lots of walking, shopping, eating, and being touristy! We rode a cable car, took a boat ride around the bay, and biked across the Golden Gate Bridge – which my mom and I did last time we were there and it was great!
{our yummy cupcakes that we ate for breakfast!}
{riding bikes across the Bridge}

Sunday night, we headed about 30 minutes south of the city to Alviso where our sales office is located. One of the projects that I am doing for work is finding and tagging all of the company computer equipment. So I spend Monday and Tuesday tagging computers. It was nice to finally see the other office, and to put faces with the people that I talk to there on a regular basis!

Oh, and I checked in using my phone, when then sends the boarding pass to my phone. At security and then to get onto the plane, you just give them your phone, and it scans the barcode from the text that Delta sent. Genius!!

This weekend is moving weekend. I’m moving across the street – into a cute little townhouse with a friend. The place is awesome – we have a 2-car garage (which will be so nice for when it starts snowing!), a fireplace, granite countertops, new carpet, a washer/dryer, AND…. My very own scrapbook room!!
Today is back to work, getting caught up, and then packing up my bedroom tonight and tomorrow night so that I will be ready to move on Saturday!!

it's back!!!

....I'm so excited! I can hardly wait!

(If you call me between the hours of 7 and 8 tonight, don't expect me to answer!)
PS - I am already off to a bad start with my once-a-week blog posts. I'll try to be better. This weekend, I'm going to San Fransciso, and then working at our California office for the beginning of next week. Then it's back home to pack up everything to move into my new, super cute townhouse!!

Hopefully more posts to come soon!

Milestones:

I realize that this is a really bad picture…..

But my car has now been driven 100,000 miles!!

And even though I’ve never really liked my car, we have just been through a lot together! College at Utah State, countless trips from Logan and Alpine. We survived the long drive to Portland, and all our adventures while we were there. And now back to Utah again!

I’ve only been pulled over 3 times in this car – and only 2 tickets! For anyone who has had the privilege of driving with me, this is pretty impressive!

Also – on a totally unrelated note….. I have a new goal of doing a blog post each week until my birthday. We’ll see how well that goes!!

impulse shopping at its finest!!

it's fate - i've been wanting to ride a tandem bike, and my favorite color is red. so why not buy a red tandem bike!!

i went to dessert social tonight, and on our way home, my friend rode by on this beauty. he asked if i wanted to take a ride on it, which of course i did!! during our ride, he said that he was trying to sell it. i said i wanted it, and so back to my house we rode and I wrote him a check!!

can't wait to get home from work tomorrow and take her for a ride! but she (or maybe he??) needs a name.... any ideas?!!

i love this boy

I have the best brother in the whole wide world!!

(july 1987)

(october 1991)

(september 2009)

In December 2005, Dave was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL). That winter/spring, he went through some intensive chemotherapy. He went back to school at USU in the Fall of 2006 while on maintenance, and was "cancer free" in April of 2009.

During a checkup a few weeks ago, they found that the cancer has relapsed.

So far, he seems to be doing pretty good. He has all his treatments done at Primary Children's Medical Hospital in SLC, and will be staying in Alpine with my parents.

This kid is amazing! Not only is he a genius, he is hilarious! I have never heard him complain about the chemo treatments. He has the best attitude about life, and is always so optimistic.

In case you care to follow, or just are interested, here's a link to a blog that he has started. The 'Journal' link is where he's going to try to post updates.

https://sites.google.com/site/davidwillisall

I brought him back a ukulele from Hawaii, which I'm hoping will keep him entertained, and he can also be used to serenade all his visitors when he feels up for it!

Love you Davie!

Proof that I'm not the only one......

So.... last night, I was at my local Wal-Mart, getting groceries and such. There were only a few things on my list, but the thing that I needed most was fruit snacks!
After wondering up and down the aisles where I figured they might be, I was getting concerned that Wal-Mart no longer sold fruit smiles.... until I finally found them!! In the Breakfast Asile! That's right..... directly across from the cereal, right next to granola bars and the oatmeal.
I about jumped for joy - realizing that I was not the only person who eats fruit snacks for breakfast! There are others too! No one can give me a hard time about eating fruit snacks for breakfast - they are in the breakfast foods isle!! Oh, happy day!!
Happy Friday! I hope your all enjoying some yummy fruit snacks for breakfast :)

my bedroom

Finally.... some pictures of my bedroom! There are still a few things/projects that I have to work on, but it's pretty much done for now. I'm still getting use to living without Matt, but I guess that will just take time. My roommates - Alysia and Andrea are great. Andrea and I share the upstairs. We each have our own bedroom, and share the bathroom. And then Alysia's bedroom, kitchen, living room, and dining room are all downstairs. I'll post pictures of the rest of the place some other time - although it's nothing really too exciting!

MY BEDROOM!!:

This picture is taken from the doorway into my bedroom

My favorite red chair!

The closet! I just barley switched out all my winter clothes for summer clothes! Yay for warmer weather! I love this closet - it's just what I like.... one big long rod!

My scrapbooking area! You can see my bed frame on the far right of this pictures - there's 2 bookcase that sorta 'divide' my room in half. In the first picture of the post, you can see the back of them, which I covered with teal fabric. The plants that are on top are from our wedding dinner.

Love these cute old-fashion suitcases!

i love lamp

this hangs above the computer - I made it with paper, and lots of modge podge. There are also small, coordinating ones above my bed.

So there you go! I still need to do something with the wall that's to the left of my bed - probably just hang a picture or something, but atleast it feels a bit more 'homey' now, and not just a large room with big plain white walls!

Random...

Warning – this post is not at all related!! Be prepared:

Thomas Graham Bernhisel!

Born April 13th, 2010 – 9 lbs, 1 oz and I think 22 inches long. He’s adorable! I’ve seen him a few times now, and I just can’t get over how cute he is! It’s so amazing to watch Chelli with him – she’s just a natural and knows just what to do! Anyway, he’s adorable, and I’m sure I’ll post many more pictures of him!

Last Thursday (wow –was it really only a week ago?!) I took most of the day off work to go skiing with Courtney – a friend from Portland. It was a gorgeous, sunny, hot spring skiing day!! And we may or may-not have remembered sunscreen…..

Courtney’s brother Daniel joined us in the afternoon, and even though he’s a boarder and not a skier, it was still fun to have him there!

Parts of the mountain were closed, although it seemed like they still had plenty of snow! I rode up the tram for the first time, which was exciting. One of the times that we rode up it, there were honestly about 100 people crammed in there – it was insane! The picture doesn’t do it justice as to how packed it was!

View from the top

Saturday, Aaron and I went to our local Aquarium because they had penguins! Oh man – I just LOVE penguins! They were so much fun to watch - just swimming around and playing! It was hard to get pictures behind the glass, but you better believe that I pushed my way in front of all the little kids so that I could get my turn at being right up in front of the glass too!

And last but not least… this is my favorite picture from Easter! James got this car from the Easter Bunny, but I think that Keph and I were more excited about it than he was! Keph just started as the Receptionist at my company, and I’m super excited to work with her and see her every day now!!

Other noteworthy events with no pictures to show:

Sub Zero Ice Cream may have taken over the Number One spot as my most favorite ice cream ever! Keph and I have started a tradition of stopping there to get ice cream before GLEE each week!

Yesterday, I went to an Excel Training class – it was awesome! I just love Excel! Wow – that makes me sound like such a dork!

Also, my bedroom is pretty much as ‘done’ as it’s going to get for a while – so hopefully I’ll remember to take some pictures and post them this weekend!

Happy Earth Day!!
I’m going to see the new Ocean’s movie tonight – it’s like Plant Earth, but done by Disney. It should be awesome!

what a crafty weekend!

i spent this past weekend doing my favorite thing with my favorite person...

Crafting with Emma Bemma!

We had our crafting food, and our crafting entertainment!! Emma and I both had projects to work on! There was plenty of Modge Podge, paint, paper, fabric, food, and Dr. Pepper! Emma was the most wonderful host... and the 2 1/2 hour drive thru Wyoming was not nearly as bad as I thought it would be!!

....anything to spend a weekend with this girl!!

And today was a BIG day! I have a new Nephew!! Thomas Graham Bernhisel, 9lbs 1oz, 22 inches long and just the cutest thing in the world! Pictures to come soon!
Tonight.... also the season premier of GLEE!!! Could not have loved it more! Can it be next Tuesday yet?!! Forget about the weekend, I want next Tuesday!!

Happy April!!

Yay for all the snow!!
Yes.... i took these pictures while driving to work today.
The trees were just SO pretty!

And even though I just bought some cute capris last night....
I'm still THIS excited about the new snow!

i did it!!

100 outfits for 100 days!

that's right.... i haven't worn the same outfit since i started my job on october 14th.....100 days ago!

with the help of excel, i have written down what i wear each day as i track my work hours. i only kept track of weekdays. the same shirt was ok - as long as it was paired with different pants and different shoes! it's been sorta fun, and forced me to come up with different combinations that i don't usually wear together!

part of me wants to see how long i can continue to go (today is 101 days!), but then again, i'm getting a bit tired of keeping track of what i have/haven't worn yet!

Today, we also moved into our new office building!! Only my department (accounting), and the purchasing department moved. but our new office is nice, and i still get a window desk! only down side is that i had to give up my 5th floor mountain view for a first floor parking lot view. bummer! having offices in 2 seperate buildings is going to take some getting use to... but i guess it's just part of the joys of working for a growing company!

that's all for now.....

Welcome!!

Welcome to my new blog! I really am going to try and post often!

I've been living in my new place for 2 weeks now - and so far so good. And the 10 minute commute to work is really nice! I am living with 2 other girls who are both LDS, and just a few years older than me. One is working, the other is in school. None of us are home much, but they both seem really nice and like we will all get along. Once I get some things hung on the walls, and a bit more unpacked, I will post some pictures!

why does loosing an hour for day-light-savings screw everything up so much?!!
